Two Lovely Ladies (2)

South country side tour::::

Wow!!!! What a great day! We went to the southern part of our province about 40 kms from the city, and boy it was fun, fun fun.... Not only did we see the usual sights on the regular tour itinerary, but we got a bonus.... there was a festival in the town of Carcar, the Kabkaban festival (I'll post some pix on my next blog; having trouble on how to post now) The parade was so colorful and we got to mingle with people from all walks of life.

Carcar is a booming town. During farming season, they tend to rice fields and plant rootcrops in between. Off farming season, some turn to making quality shoes, others bolos (big knives for farming).

The parade participants wore typical costumes reflective of the kind of work that they do... Some had slippers and sandals hanged on their costumes while some participants had clay pots and fruits on their heads.

And not to forget the lechon, a suckling pig that is roasted. It’s a pity we didnt get the chance to try Carcar’s lechon but at least on the way we got some Chicharon, pork crackling, the town’s other famous delicacy.. mmmm.... Delicious...

It was like playing hide and seek when we tried to find our driver to bring us back to the city. Apparently, he wasn’t allowed to park where he dropped us off and had to drive around and was stuck in traffic which was of course due to the merrymaking on the streets. After straining our necks and perspiring heavily, we finally found him and were off to the city.

Oh well, back to the city... Twas nice going out to the countryside, where what you see are not tall buildings but tall trees and green fields.. Back to reality again, back to the city jungle... til the next.... huhummmmm..... bye.........
